Louise Etombi is a twelve-year-old student of Government High School Limbe. On Saturday the 2nd of June 2016, she coordinated Educate a Child in Africa, Inc.’s Play and Learn | Leadership club activities in the Cassava Farm neighborhood of Limbe, Cameroon. Math and English Language are her favorite subjects in school. The aspiring Medical Doctor was overwhelmed with joy to lead her peers. She introduced the program of the day and appointed Britney Miki to offer an opening prayer. The youngsters sang the club anthem in unison after which they took their seats.
Louise led her friends in an interactive talk on the theme of the recently celebrated ‘Day of the African Child’. Mishla-Pride Sume recounted the story behind the commemoration of the day, while the other club members gave details of what they learned. The activity that followed was Educate a Child in Africa, Inc.’s ‘Think and Link’ game. Here, the children used the last letters of different nouns to form other words. They all had fun as they kept connecting different names and the game went round from child to child.
The children moved on to play Educate a Child in Africa, Inc.’s game of ‘Shape Tracker’. The leader paired up her friends to take turns in playing. Through this game, the children learned different definitions and functions of things they are familiar with. Laughter filled the air as they cheered one another.
Louise is a friendly person who loves reading and writing short stories during her free time. She was excited to work with her peers especially because it was her birthday. Her friends cheered her up with a birthday song. Louise loves eating meals prepared with Chicken.
