Sume Mishler Pride is a ten-year-old member of Educate a Child in Africa, Inc’s. Play and Learn | leadership club of Cassava Farms Limbe, Cameroon. She is a pupil of Fritz Williams Nursery and Primary School. English language is her favorite subject and her aspiration in life is to become a Medical Doctor. As the leader of the club activities on Saturday the 10th of September 2016, Mishler called on all her friends to have fun while learning. She appointed Miki Britney to offer a word of prayer which was closely followed by the singing of the club anthem tuned by Ndolo Allotey.
Solving Arithmetic problems using Educate a Child in Africa, Inc’s. learning bricks was the first activity of the day. The children used the multiplication, addition, subtraction and division signs to reach their solutions. It was an exciting exercise as they searched and selected bricks carrying the possible answers. Mishler announced the game of ‘Time Mastery’ and she distributed drawing materials to all her friends. They were all expected to draw a clock showing time. The children presented their individual clocks and also explained the various activities they carry out at that time on a school day. Britney said “by 8:30am, I am in class learning”.
The last activity for the day was ‘Clansmen’. The club members played the game while jumping on one leg and answering questions based on their origin. Faith Forche mentioned Achu as the traditional meal of the Bafut people, Toge Joel greeted in the Bassa dialect while Ndolo described the traditional attire of the Bakweri tribe. Amidst the laughter and cheers, they learned the importance of understanding the different aspect of their cultures as young Cameroonians.
Mishler loves eating Fufu and eru. She likes to play the game of Dodging with Penda Monique, her best friend. As the club activities came to an end, the children expressed their desire for more games. Mishler encouraged her mates to be present for the next club activity and asked Toge Joel to offer closing prayer.
