Tar Telcy is a ten-year-old class six pupil of National Comprehensive Bilingual Nursery and Primary School, Limbe Cameroon. On Saturday the 17th of September 2016, she coordinated Educate a Child in Africa, Inc’s. Play and Learn | leadership club activities of Animal Farms. She loves English language lessons and one of her goals in life is to become a Medical Doctor. Telcy welcomed her friends, assigned Ntangu Terry to offer a word of prayer and Tar Ciara to tune the club anthem.
Telcy introduced ‘Self Portrait’ as the first activity of the day. While playing the game, the youngsters orally communicated different facts about themselves. The children filled the hall with laughter as their mates managed to maintain their balance on a leg or tiptoes in the course of the activity. Audrey Moukam said she was three years old when she started school while Anubogfah Eris mentioned that she aspires to become a Flight Attendant.
The game of ‘Banana Boldness’ was the next activity. Here, Telcy and her friends formed little groups representing different fruits. The different groups were given information on cardboard papers about locally grown fruits to read out. They learnt about the appearance, nutritive content, and the medicinal value of these fruits. At the end of the game, the children all agreed that apples, oranges and coconuts are equally important in their different ways as the banana fruit.
Telcy was very happy to be the leader of the day. She encouraged her friends to be present and punctual for the next club meeting. Ayuk Bernard offered a closing prayer and the children seemed excited as they exited the premises.
