Clarita Allotey is a class six pupil of Fritz Williams Bilingual Nursery and Primary School Limbe, Cameroon. She enjoys solving Arithmetic problems and looks forward to studying Medical Science after High School. She is a member of Educate a Child in Africa, Inc’s. Play and Learn | leadership club of Cassava Farms. Clarita coordinated the club activities of Saturday, 24th September 2016. She cordially welcomed her friends, appointed Monyongo Seraphine to pray and Manka Blessing to lead the singing of the club anthem.
Clarita divided her friends into groups of two each. The different groups assembled words from among Educate a Child in Africa, Inc.’s learning bricks. From the meaning of the words, they used their initiative to come up with short sketches. Faith Forche and Ndolo Allotey selected the words ‘study’, ‘school’ and ‘swimming’. Their sketch communicated the moral that swimming and other sports are good but they should not distract us from going to school to study.
The next activity that followed was the ‘Think and Link’ game. The children formed a big circle and while clapping on one another’s palms, they followed the chronology of the letters of the alphabet to call out different groups of nouns. The opportunity to talk moved from child to child and those who broke any rule of the game were eliminated. Amidst the laughter, Seraphine emerged the winner.
Clarita was very happy to coordinate the club activities. As the games came to an end, she reminded her friends to be present for the next club rendezvous and asked Laurine Shaldom to offer a prayer. The children left the hall cheerfully.
