On the 30th of March 2016, Educate a Child in Africa, Inc. organized the maiden edition of its Play and Learn | Leadership club in the Cameroon Development Corporation Residential Area of Limbe Camp. Nine -year-old Ashley coordinated the activities. She is a class 4 pupil of Jonam Bilingual Nursery and Primary school Limbe. Aspiring to become a Banker in future, Ashley excels in Mathematics. Favor led the club members in prayer while Ashley tuned the club anthem.
The children were enlightened on ‘Profession’, the word of the day. They gave examples of some professions they know such as; Teaching, Magistrate, Woodwork Specialist, Artist, Accountant and Nursing. In the game of “Self Portrait”, the club members drew and presented pictures of careers they aspire to pursue in future. Helen’s sketch was that of a Musician performing on stage while Esther drew a picture of an accountant. Most of the diagrams portrayed the teaching profession.
The club members of the Limbe Camp Play and Learn | Leadership club were delighted to be present for another club activity on the 6th of April. The youngsters were involved in a couple of activities which brought out their talents. In groups of four, the kids solved arithmetic problems using the Educate a Child in Africa, Inc.’s Learning bricks. The different groups provided solutions to arithmetic problems in addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. The group that presented the highest number of combinations carried the day.
In the game of ‘Secret Inspiration’, the youngsters performed different task as demanded. Nalowa acted as a magistrate in court passing judgment to a criminal while on her part, Ofelly played the role of a Mathematics teacher in class. Laughter filled the atmosphere as the youngsters showcased their different talents.
Ashley gave her closing remarks and reminded her friends on the next club meeting. The team of Educate a Child in Africa, Inc. encouraged the youngsters to strive for excellence in other to achieve their goals in life.
